VDC001 Behind the Scenes: In the Black Box
(Beginners)
Step by step, students will learn how to create a simple video from script to screen. They will use simple video editing software tools such as Windows Movie Maker and iMovie to add text for subtitles, sound and music and create frame to frame transitions. The basic key areas of video production: scripting, storyboarding, scheduling, casting, locations and crew appointments will also be covered.
VDC002 Behind the Scenes: Out of the Black Box
(Advanced)
In this module, students will embark into a journey of filmmaking appreciation, conceptualization, awareness and understanding. Getting involved into the behind the scenes world of filmmaking, students will experience firsthand the goingons of a video production crew imparting the concepts and techniques of making a short film that tells a story. Think of it as an on-the-job training while on excursion!
VDC003 Seeing is Believing
In this module, students learn how to use lighting to create moods and scenes. Experience firsthand what it means to be part of light and magic! Using video cameras, students will then create monologues that make extensive use of lighting to dramatize their stories.
VDC004 Drama-Diva
In love with drama series? Make your very own! Learn to prepare gripping stories and powerful scripts to create your very own drama. Learn video shooting techniques and add music or soundtrack selections to editing applications to give your drama its own edge.
VDC005 Commercial Break
The world of advertising beckons! This module offers to hone in on students conceptualization and creating powerful thirty second clips that aim to provide desired information and provide a selling avenue for real-life or imaginary commercial products.
VDC006 A Sound Plan
In this module, students learn how to create their very own soundtrack for their films or even learn how to become a foley artist to provide custom background sound effects that are suitable for their own film action scenes.
VDC007 Get the Facts Right
This programme allows students to explore various techniques of journalism broadcasting. Learn how to conduct interviews, capture reports on the ground and video shoot a newsworthy event.
VDC008 For Real!
Designed to cater towards documentary production, this module will guide students with the basic knowledge of script creation, storyboarding and interview processes of documentary making, while learning techniques for creating documentaries, whether it’s on animals or the latest fashion trends and fads or even real life phenomenon. Alternatively, students can also try out reality TV production that aim to entertain the audience. Other entities such as game-making and sports can be modified to suit this module.
VDC009 Going Indie
Art has never looked this good. Students will come up with artistic short films that revolve around the indie concept. Using simplistic approaches, students are expected to come up with stories that have a certain nonmainstream feel about it. Relying more on creativity than technique, this module aims to assist students in thinking out of the box.
VDC010 Music in Motion
Capture music at its best! Enter the world of music video production – learn what it’s like to make music videos so appealing and create your very own! Students will get a chance to explore higher level video effects and transitions, creating concepts to appeal to the masses and working with music themes and performances.
VDC011 Masterpiece Collection
Watching a film in the cinema will never be the same again as students learn how to technically dissect a film into its basic elements – pre-production, production and post-production. Films created by previous students will also be featured and showcased here. This module aims to inspire more local filmmakers!
