Music and Lyrics
In this series, students will learn to deconstruct a piece of music (be it pop, rock or hip hop), study its different components and use their knowledge to create a piece of music they can call their own. This series focuses on creativity, analytical skills and originality.

The Songwriter |

| Students will be exposed to the basics of popular songwriting techniques, how to write catchy melodies, understand basic chord progressions and grasp lyrical writing techniques. There will be potential opportunities for song showcasing for selected groups of students. |

The Music Arranger |

| Students will learn how to arrange either set musical pieces or original compositions creatively. They will also be taught the basics of music theory, chord structures, instrumentation characteristics, and essentials of music scoring. |

The Lyricist |
|

| Students will focus on the lyrical aspect of songwriting in this course. They will learn the basics of writing musical lyrics, rhyming patterns, metrical patterns, use of symbols and metaphors as well as expand their vocabulary. The medium of language is either English or Mandarin. Students will also learn how to integrate language, poetry and music. |
