Narrative & Recount Writing |

| Learn to apply theme, plot, characterization, dialogue, point of view to produce interesting narratives and recounts. There’ll be opportunities to read outstanding short stories and pick up tips on effective writing techniques. For secondary students, they will review differences between a factual and a personal recount, a feature article and a news report. |

Personal Reflective / Creative Writing |

| Students will pick up a range of strategies to help them tap on their own experience and memory, hone their observation skills and discover their personal voice. They’ll enjoy the range of exercises and activities designed to ignite their creative writing spark in fiction and poetry. Added to that is the creative possibilities of combining ideas from nonfiction and thought-provoking poems to form into powerful personal essays. |

Expository & Argumentative Writing |

| Using the “English-across-the-Curriculum” approach, students learn the rudiments of the expository and argumentative essay. In the expository section, students will be closely guided and then taught to apply the skills acquired to produce a coherent piece of expository essay. In the argumentative section, they will be taught how to put together a convincing argument, how to avoid fallacies and sweeping statements to successfully construct a convincing argument that will engage the readers. |
